Bluestone Vineyards wins at Decanter World Wine Awards 2024

Decanter World Wine Awards unveiled the results last week (19^th June 2024) revealing impressive wins for the UK, with 186 medals awarded including two for Bluestone Vineyards!

The distinguished panel of 243 leading wine experts, including 20 Master Sommeliers and 61 Master of Wine from 33 countries, blind-tasted 18,143 wines from 57 countries, resulting in 50 Best in Show, 177 Platinum, 643 Gold, 5,977 Silver and 8,016 Bronze medals.

The UK achieved its highest medal count yet – 186 – and we are delighted to have received two Silver Medals for our Premier Cuvée 2019 and Cuvée Rosé 2019, scoring 90 and 92 points respectively.

The judges described our Cuvée Rosé 2019 as: “Nose of wild strawberry and red apple. Citrus and red fruit palate with soft oak, creamy vanilla, and hints of dark cherry and quince. Has real power and complexity.”

And the Premier Cuvée 2019: “Bruised apple and citrus, great purity on the nose. Fine bubbles, persistent, pronounced baked bread, red apple and poached pear on the palate, with delicate buttery depth.”

The Premier Cuvée 2019 is the first wine to have been released made from fruit grown at our vineyards in Wiltshire.

The limited-release Premier Cuvée from the 2019 vintage is a blend of 48.5% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, 18.5% Pinot Meunier and 7% Reserve wine and has had 36 months lees ageing and six months bottle ageing.

Hand-picked into small 10kg crates, the bunches are pressed whole before the initial 10-day fermentation and full MLF.

Winemaker Nat says: “Our Premier Cuvée 2019 is our best yet; achieving a balanced fruit-driven wine, showcasing the vintage at Bluestone, threaded with complexity, making it a wine that can, and should, be enjoyed with food. It can be consumed when released, yet it will continue to improve in bottle over the next 4-5 years."
